JPMorgan Chase reported before the bell. The financial giant beat consensus profit estimates, but revenue came slightly below analysts' forecasts and the bank's chief executive officer said the results fell short of potential.

The banking firm posted earnings of 74 cents a share, up 6 cents from a year ago. Revenue was $25.2 billion, up 32 percent from the year-ago period, but shy of forecasts of $26.8 billion.
