Pops & Drops: Intel, Live Nation...

Following are the day’s biggest winners and losers. Find out why shares of Intel and Live Nation popped while SunTrust and Quest Diagnostics dropped.

POPS (stocks that jumped higher)

China ETF (FXI) popped 1%. New reports out of Beijing suggested China's gross domestic product growth is likely to grow about 9.5 percent in 2010, largely driven by strong domestic consumption and corporate investment. - The chart doesn't look good, counters Tim Seymour. I think this is a tough time to buy.

Intel (INTC) popped 2%. A bullish article in Barron’s suggested the stock could have 25% upside. - I agree with Barron's long-term, says Guy Adami, but over the next few weeks I think there's more downside.

Live Nation (LYV) popped 14%. The Justice Department approved a merger between this company and Ticketmaster.

Siemens (SI) popped 2%. Investors pushed shares higher ahead of earnings. - I like it as a play on infrastructure and alternative fuels, says Tim Seymour.

Johnson Controls (JCI) popped 3%. The company posted a higher-than-expected quarterly profit and raised its 2010 outlook as global auto production recovered from a steep downturn.

DROPS (stocks that slid lower)

SunTrust (STI) dropped 2%. Stifel downgraded shares to ‘sell’ from ‘hold’ after earnings last week. - I'm a seller of regional banks, says Joe Terranova.

Quest Diagnostics (DGX) dropped 2%. The medical diagnostics testing company posted tepid growth in clinical test volume and slightly weaker than expected earnings results.

Capital One (COF) dropped 4%. Although the company reported stronger-than-expected earning, the stock sold off on concerns about the consumer.
