Undercover Boss: Waste Management COO Larry O’Donnell

On Thursday, Cramer sat down with Waste Management President and Chief Operating Officer Larry O’Donnell. WM is the largest garbage-collection company and landfill operator in the United Sates, and, surprisingly, a pioneer in Cramer’s favorite fuel source, natural gas.

Waste Management has the largest alternative-fuel fleet of any company, with more than 425 trucks running on clean-burning compressed natural gas or liquefied natural gas. Not only does this save WM money, but it also cuts carbon emissions. Cramer took that one step further to say that a national network of filling stations to support WM and companies like it could put as many as 2.3 million people to work.

Also, Waste Management has 110 facilities that harness the energy created by the natural decomposition of waste. These landfill-to-gas energy projects generate enough power for 400,000 homes every day, which offsets almost 2 million tons of coal a year.

Cramer has liked this stock for its steady underlying business and the 4% dividend yield. And he thinks O’Donnell’s appearance on CBS’s new series Undercover Boss, where the CEO takes an entry-level position at his own company, makes him a great candidate with which to discuss job creation. They tackled that subject and more during Cramer’s full interview. Watch the video here.
