Private equity firm Bain Capital is in talks to buy Psychiatric Solutions , with the mental health facilities operator seeking a 25 percent premium.

On Monday MetLife inked a $15.5 billion deal to buy AIG's American Life Insurance Co., or Alico unit.

And all week regional bank stocks have rallied as speculation grows that Barclay’s is on the prowl to make an acquisition.

"We've started to see a pick-up in M&A activity, and that represents a sign of confidence that chief executive officers and chief financial officers see better times ahead," said Michael Sheldon, chief market strategist at RDM Financial.

I’m watching Hologic, says Pete Najarian. Options action suggests to me this stock could go higher. Maybe it’s deal talk and maybe it’s not but the call activity is noteworthy.
