CORONA, Calif., May 10, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- AVT, Inc. (formerly Automated Vending Technologies), (Pink Sheets: AVTC) today said its participation at the annual NAMA convention, the national trade association of the food, refreshment, vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries, has won it significant attention by top media outlets.
The Chicago Sun-Times, with a circulation of more than 300,000, interviewed CEO James Winsor about its FLIX ON STIX, the secure movie rental and file transfer system which is considered the next major innovation in the movie rental industry. The Kiosk style dispensing machine transfers standard and high definition movies to a user owned USB memory stick for home TV, PC or mobile device playback.
The Sun-Times reported: "Got 30 seconds? That's enough time to download a movie from AVT's new FLIX ON STIX kiosk using a flash drive. It heads to about 100 western U.S. locations over next summer and fall. The cost for a three-day rental is expected to be about $4, and there's an option to purchase the movie.
AVT is also rolling out a fresh popcorn vending machine and a new video game redemption kiosk that pays-out cash for used video games. Sellers are likely to get between $6 and $8 for their games. AVT's AuA title that costs $50 as a new release might go for about $25 at the kiosk." The NBC-TV affiliate in Chicago also interviewed Mr. Winsor. "One company, AVT, is even working on a new twist on the movie rental business downloading flicks to memory sticks," the TV correspondent said. "You make a selection, ideally a new release, and you never have to worry about it being out of stock," said Mr.
"We are pleased by the recognition we received at this annual gathering and glad that our high-tech achievements are being discussed by the media," said Shannon Illingworth, Company founder.
