Spain not aware if Brussels eyes tighter budget

MADRID, May 10 (Reuters) - Spain's Treasury Secretary Carlos Ocana said on Monday he was not aware that Brussels had sought fiscal tightening in additional to what Spain had pledged. "I am not aware if Brussels has ordered a deeper adjustment. It should not be forgotten that this adjustment is on top of previous cuts. I would not consider a greater adjustment reasonable," Ocana told journalists. Ocana said earlier that the government would make additional budget savings equivalent to 0.5 percent of Spain's gross domestic product in 2010, and to 1.0 percent of GDP in 2011.
