When China's International Fashion Week wraps up on Monday, over 80 local designers and fashion brands would have stomped the catwalks in various venues in Beijing, in hopes of capturing the imagination of the world.
Desperate to shake off the 'copycat' stigma, this year's designers plunged head on to prove they are at the cutting edge of fashion, showcasing what's been described in the media as "weird and wonderful." The EONfashion styling contest, for one, created lots of buzz, with some industry insiders proclaiming it to be "Lady Gaga-level" awesome.
Other highlights included haute couture presented by Chinese luxury fashion brand NE-Tiger, which showed a commitment to nation’s culture by fusing design cues from the Chinese zodiac with contemporary fashion.
The eight-day show is now in its 13th year and has become a cornerstone event in the country's annual fashion calendar.
