Driving Miss Daisy sold a respectable number of tickets in general release, but when it won the Oscar for Best Picture of 1989, its box office receipts jumped by almost 30%. However, while itâ€™s true that no Oscar winner for Best Picture has ever lost money, there are some movies that even Hollywoodâ€™s most coveted award canâ€™t turn into blockbusters, and others that have won the award and barely broke even.
