The 2011 edition of India’s annual show stopper the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort ended last week in the entertainment capital of Mumbai. Since it's that time of the year, when Indians celebrate Holi, the festival of colors, we thought it would be the perfect time to look at the colors and styles on display at India's biggest fashion event.

Accessory designer Malini Agarwalla shows off her wares. Seventy-eight designers from veterans Manish Malhotra and Rocky S, who have made a name dressing up Bollywood stars, shared the ramp for the first time with bold accessory designers and a handful of guest designers from Japan.

The show included elements of Indian folk music. The Indian fashion industry accounts for just 0.2% of the global fashion market but it's expected to grow at 10-15 percent annually.

Fashion designer Masaba Gupta got heads turning with an interesting take on the Indian turban. The designer is the daughter of former West Indies cricket star Vivian Richards and Indian actress Neena Gupta.

Designer Debarun Mukherjee featured cream and gold traditional Indian outfits. The organized market for fashion apparel in India, according to industry estimates, is upwards of $55 million.

Designer Pria Kataria Puri featured more modern creations. Indian designers are increasingly competing with foreign brands such as Hugo Boss and Gucci who have recently entered the Indian market.
