I've been asked numerous times why S&P futures dropped 10 points right after 6pm ET tonight.
There is no clear catalyst, but a couple of observations:
1) many risk managers meet right after everything closes. Some have likely decided to hedge long/short positions using futures. The tape is obviously illiquid.
2) Far East traders just arrived to work. They may also be hedging or getting forced to sell.
We also have data from China tonight...CPI, PPI, Industrial Production.
