The founder and chief executive officer of Dell Inc poked fun at competitor Hewlett-Packard for saying it planned to spin off its personal computer business.
"If HP spins off their PC business....maybe they will call it Compaq?"
Michael Dell wrote on his Twitter account Thursday afternoon.
The barb was particularly sharp because it served as a reminder of HP's $25 billion acquisition of Compaq Computer in 2002. The PC business is now considered a low-margin drag on HP's earnings.
