Hoyas, Strategies, and an Bloody Thursday

Osman C. Jen

Sell-off started late Wednesday and stocks took a steep dive Thursday after the Fed's latest meeting on monetary policy.  Given the most recent economic assessment, there's a lot of fear and turmoil in the market right now even after several solid earning reports earlier this week - Oracle, General Mills, Adobe - which we took advantage of.  Will the Fed do something next week to boost the market? We hope so.

It's been an fascinating week 1 here for the Georgetown team, we are super excited about this challenge and we are putting our investment focus on 5 areas - Earnings, M&A, Leveraged ETF, Currency, and Commodity.
Our team is made of members from both full-time and evening program, with experiences in investment banking, equity research, derivatives, trading, and quant modeling.

Thursday's market wiped away lots of our gains from the previous 3 days, but a short position on the Euro allowed us to come out pretty evenly after week 1.

Go Hoyas!
