Adobe’s ‘Huge’ Catalyst

It looks like software company Adobe Systems may be coming back to life thanks to a huge catalyst on the horizon, Cramer said Friday.

That catalyst is HTML5, the “revolutionary” next generation web programming language that will allow developers to embed audio and video directly into Web pages.

So how does Adobe benefit?

The software company is the first mover beneficiary—its next version of Creative Suite software for web developers will come with HTML5.

“In short, Adobe will be the arms dealer for programmers who want to work in HTML5,” Cramer said.

Plus, with Apple taking a 30 percent bite out of any money a company makes when it sells anything through Apple’s app store, HTML5 becomes very appealing for developers. That's because it will allow them to run applications through the browsers on an iPad.

But Cramer cautioned that the news doesn’t necessarily mean the company’s next quarter will be good since the next version of Creative Suite software doesn't come out until late 2011 or early 2012.

“Adobe might not reward you right away, but it's got a developing 2012 story that people will want to be ahead of,” he said. “I know I do.”
