Yahoo Trying to Sell Itself
The chatter: Investors were wondering just how aggressively Yahoo! may be looking for buyers after published reports suggested that Alibaba and Softbank are considering an offer. Last month speculation surfaced that Microsoft could also be looking at Yahoo! as well.
Trader Mike Murphy calls events described above as “the worst kept secret on Wall Street! Whether its Ali Baba or Microsoft, I do think the company is up for sale.”
Pete Najarian agrees. In fact he’s betting on it. He’s long.
ECB Emergency Meeting
The chatter: The ECB intends to call an emergency meeting as soon as Wednesday to address to escalating financial crisis.
”I hope its true,” says trader Brian Kelly. “They’re having an emergency so they should have a meeting.”
Trader Steve Cortes doesn’t see it. “My inclination is that its false,” he says. They won’t want to appear as if they’re panicking.”
