CNBC Meets... Kelly Hoppen

Exclusive interview to air on 16 November at 10.00pm GMT

LONDON, 11 November 2011 – CNBC continues its CNBC Meets series, which profiles some of the world’s most successful people with an exclusive interview with the world-renowned designer Kelly Hoppen, on Wednesday, 16 November at 10.00pm GMT.

Hoppen, who left school at 16, has single-handedly built up a multi-million pound business designing residential and commercial properties as well as holiday resorts, yachts and aircraft interiors.  She was honoured with an MBE in 2009 and has also created a range of branded products that include furniture, lighting, paints, fabrics and home accessories and a highly successful range for QVC.  She also operates a design school, where students from all over the world come to London to be taught the secrets of simple, luxurious design.

In this candid interview with CNBC presenter Tania Bryer, Hoppen reveals the challenges she faced in her childhood, including her chronic dyslexia, bullying and the death of her father when she was just 16 years old.  She also discusses her failed marriages and raising her daughter and two stepdaughters – the actress Sienna Miller and the fashion designer Savannah Miller, with their mother Jo Miller.

Hoppen also speaks openly and honestly about her two and a half year battle with News International over phone hacking claims and how she won an apology and a settlement.

The programme gives the viewer an insight into the woman behind the brand and the person behind the strong and sometimes fierce reputation.

Featuring interviews with Vidal Sassoon, Hoppen’s all-time idol, and Gary Rhodes, the internationally acclaimed chef, the viewer is taken on an inspiring journey of a woman who overcame many odds to become one of Britain’s most successful business women.

First transmission date: 16 November 2011, 10.00pm GMT.
