With a 47 percent year-to-date increase in its share price, apparel giant VF is the No. 9 stock in the S&P top performers of 2011. But should you buy, sell or hold?
“I absolutely love the brand,” said “Fast Money” retail expert Patty Edwards.
Edwards said the maker of such brands as Wrangler Jeans and Vans shoes was “a phenomenal company” and its valuation was reasonable, but she had reservations about its stock performance.
“I don’t like the chart right now,” she said. “If I owned it, I would be holding it, but I think you might get a bit of a better opportunity to buy it.”
VF traded in the $126 range midday Thursday and had EPS of $6.18. Its 52-week high was $142.50 and its low was $80.40.
Trader Steve Grasso, who disclosed an interest in a fund that trades in the space, wasn’t a buyer of VF.
“I’d rather pick a winner than a laggard, and
this one’s definitely a little sketchy on the
charts,” he said.
