On Wednesday, Cramer compared two stocks: Ross Stores and Alexion Pharmaceuticals . Both stocks were among the winners of the Nasdaq last year.
Alexion is a biotechnology firm that develops “orphan drugs,” which are basically drugs that get special exclusivity rights from the government because they treat very rare diseases. Ross Stores is the second-largest off-price retailer in the United States.
Both stocks performed well last year, but Cramer thinks Alexion is the one to bet on going forward. He thinks the company is more likely to be taken over and has many new products coming down the pipeline.
