Netflix Stock Rises 42% in 5 Trading Sessions


Shares of Netflix rose 41.7 percent in the past five trading sessions, posting their largest five-day percent gain since October 2002, when they increased 45 percent.   

Netflix is currently leading the gains in the S&P 500 so far this year.

The movie rental company made its debut in Britain and Ireland on Monday.

Netflix stock, which fell nearly 61 percent in 2011, traded above its 50-day moving average and rose as high as $99.65 Monday — its highest level since October 2011.

The stock has been among the most shorted in the S&P 500, with a short interest of 18 percent.

Bottom Picking?

Most of the leaders in 2012 suffered large losses last year.
