The New York Stock Exchange is closed Monday. But not for President’s Day.
It probably says President’s Day on your calendar. If you are under the age of 40, the third Monday in February has probably been known as President’s Day for your entire life.
But the New York Stock Exchange has refused to change George Washington’s birthday observance day to President’s Day. For the Big Board it is still and probably always will be Washington’s Birthday.
It’s quirky. A bit moss-backed. And kind of reassuring to know that some traditions live on in the world of finance.
