Gold Fields Has Got Mojo: Tim Seymour

If you’re looking to game gold, Tim Seymour says take a look at Gold Fields.

"This is a controversial pick," admits Seymour, nonetheless he likes this stock for a slew of reasons.

Take a look:

- Price action: “It rallied on a day when the dollar marched higher,” he says. Typically a stronger dollar is negative for the spot price of gold and related trades.

- Improved Profitability: “Margins have improved and the company is somewhere between 12-15% free cash flow yielding,” he says. In other words, Gold Fields management is running the business better."

- Unusual catalyst: “If you look at the 13Fs of major hedge funds such as Tradewinds and Paulson, it looks as if they were taking profits in this stock,” speculates Seymour. “I’d think that was a temporary phenomenon and that selling is over.”

And Seymour likes the company for one other reason. “It has strong fundamentals,” he says.
