Richard Garland is managing director of Investec Asset Management's cross-border group, which handles offshore fund distribution and institutional clients in the Americas. He is also responsible forthe firm's business with the key global distribution networks.
Prior to Investec, he was CEO and chairman of Global Armour, a global manufacturer of personal protection equipment, with offices in South Africa, the U.K. and the U.S.
Between 1999 and 2003, Garland was CEO of Janus International, an asset management company based in Denver. From 1994 to 1996, he as senior vice president at J&W Seligman, an asset management company based in New York, where he was responsible for its offshore fund business. Garland also worked as the international marketing director for Henderson Investors and assistant marketing director at Morgan Grenfell Investment Management in London. He began his career at Hambros Investment Management, also in London.
Garland graduated from the University of Leeds in 1984, with a joint honors degree in English and German.
