iCrime: Apple Fans Are Targets of Theft in NYC

Apple's iPhones and other gadgets aren't just popular among consumers, thieves also have acquired a taste for the sleek mobile devices.

Theft of Apple products were up 40 percent compared to a year ago in New York City, accounting for most of the overall increase in burglaries, grand larcenies and thefts in the city, according to a new report by the New York Police Department. 

According to the NYPD, 11,447 Apple products—including iPhones, iPods, iPads and other Apple devices—were reported stolen in NYC this year. That's 3,280 more reported stolen Apple devices than last year.
