California Retired Teachers Association Airs First Television Ad in Support of Prop 30

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The California Retired Teachers Association (CalRTA) today launched a television commercial as a component of its first-ever independent expenditure campaign in support of Proposition 30, the temporary tax for education, on November’s ballot. The campaign released a radio ad on September 24th.

“Our television spot, called CalRTA Warrior, isn’t what voters might expect from an organization of retired teachers,” CalRTA President Joe Dion said. “It’s edgy, attention-grabbing and humorous, highlighting a flashback of a now-retired teacher who emphasizes the need to pass Prop 30 so our kids can have a bright future. It will definitely cut through the clutter,” he said.

The 30-second spot will air on cable stations in Sacramento, San Francisco and Fresno.

“We’re running this political campaign, the first one in our 83-year history to fight for teacher benefits and public education while honoring the organization’s nonpartisan history,” Dion said.

“CalRTA is first and foremost an advocate for protecting retired teachers’ pensions, but our members are also passionate about the success of children long after they’ve retired. When Prop 30 came along, we saw it as the perfect complement to our support for education funding,” Dion added.

The campaign, Teachers Never Stop Caring, includes radio, television, print and online advertising in Sacramento, San Francisco, Fresno, and Orange County. For more information, visit and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
