U.S. stocks declined after the World Bank cut growthforecasts for East Asia, highlighting concerns about the globaleconomic climate and corporate profits on the cusp of thequarterly earnings season.

The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 43.47points, or 0.32 percent, to 13,566.68. The Standard & Poor's 500Index lost 6.71 points, or 0.46 percent, to 1,454.22. TheNasdaq Composite Index fell 22.79 points, or 0.73percent, to 3,113.39.

The company said it would post an adjusted core loss for thethird quarter as biodiesel prices fell by more than a third.

Shares of Prepaid card companies Green Dot and NetSpend fellafter Wal-Mart and American Express announced a partnership tooffer customers an alternative to debit and checking accounts.

** ALLIANCE FINANCIAL CORP , $45.86, up 16.36 pct(1010 ET)

** NBT BANCORP INC , $21.21, down 4.24 pct (0944 ET)

NBT said it agreed to buy Alliance Financial in a dealvalued at about $233.4 million to expand its footprint in NewYork.

** NATIONAL BANK OF GREECE SA , $2.85, up14 pct (1012 ET)

The Greek lender offered to buy Eurobank Ergasias SA

in an all-share deal. ** AFFYMETRIX INC , $3.64, down 15.6 pct (1015 ET)

The genetic analysis products maker forecast itsthird-quarter revenue below Street estimates, citing thetightening academic funding environment worldwide that reducedrevenues in its gene expression and eBioscience business units.

The company estimated a total revenue of $80 millioncompared with analyst estimates of $84.6 million, according toThomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

** VRINGO INC , $5.13, up 13 pct (1033 ET)

The mobile phone software maker's unit, VringoInfrastructure Inc, filed a patent infringement lawsuit againstthe UK unit of Chinese telecommunications equipment maker ZTECorp .

** PROGRESS SOFTWARE CORP , $18.86, down 12.3 pct(1024 ET)

The database management software maker said it could seesome revenue slippage in the current quarter as a result of theresignation of Chief Executive Jay Bhatt.

** TPC GROUP INC , $45.08, up 10.8 pct (0944 ET) ** INNOSPEC INC , $33.91, down 1.23 pct (0945 ET)

The chemicals maker said it received a buyout proposal fromInnospec for $721.3 million, topping an offer made by privateequity firms First Reserve Corp and SK Capital Partners.

** INTERSIL CORP , $7.43, down 8.33 pct (1000 ET)

J.P. Morgan Securities cut the chipmaker's stock to"underweight" from "neutral". The brokerage also cut its pricetarget on the stock to $5.00 from $8.00.

** NETFLIX INC , $72.42, up 8.8 pct (1017 ET)

Morgan Stanley upgraded the video streaming company to"overweight" from "equalweight," saying the company is poised toleverage its domestic cost structure and potentially become aglobal video platform.

** QLIK TECHNOLOGIES INC , $20.43, up 6.79 pct (1022ET)

The market was relieved that the business analytics softwaremaker did not release preliminary results along with itsannouncement of the date of its third-quarter earnings release,two analysts said. Concerns about the sector heightened lastweek when Informatica Corp issued a profit warning.

** OCLARO INC , $2.43, down 7.4 pct (1020 ET)

The optical components maker announced preliminaryfirst-quarter revenue of $149 million - below analysts'estimates of $162.2 million, according to Thomson ReutersI/B/E/S.

** SWIFT ENERGY CO , $17.93, down 6.3 pct (1013 ET)

Suntrust Robinson Humphrey downgraded the oil and naturalgas producer to "neutral," saying the company could miss itsfourth-quarter output guidance.

Swift Energy lowered its full-year production forecast lastmonth as its oil fields were hit by Hurricane Isaac.

** NAVISTAR INTERNATIONAL CORP , $22.31, up 5.18 pct(0948 ET)

The company agreed to appoint three new members to itsboard, preventing a proxy fight with activist investors CarlIcahn and Mark Rachesky.

** ALLSCRIPTS HEALTHCARE SOLUTIONS INC , $13.72, up2.8 pct (1021 ET)

Bloomberg reported that the healthcare IT company receivedoffers from a private-equity consortium, including BlackstoneGroup LP and Carlyle Group LP .

** FIRST SOLAR INC , $20.90, up 4.13 pct (1016 ET)

The company said it would supply thin-film solar modules toIndia-based Kiran Energy Pvt Ltd And Mahindra Solar One Pvt Ltdto construct two solar photovoltaic power plants.

** UNITEDHEALTH GROUP INC , $58.18, up 1.83 pct (0957ET)

The health insurer said it would buy a 90 percent stake inAmil Participacoes SA , Brazil's largest healthinsurer and hospital operator, for $4.9 billion, tapping into afast-growing private healthcare market as challenges mount forits U.S. business.
