"Rated G for Netflix", a new iPad app by Universal Apps, provides much needed parental control for Netflix

BOSTON, Oct. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- A new iPad app for Netflix that only shows Rated G films is now available in iTunes store. "Rated G for Netflix" allows young children to browse different genres in Rated G only, and create their own kid-friendly queue independently from regular Netflix's main queue and app.

Children love their shows, and so do parents. Creating queues and browsing through Netflix genres can mix up parents' shows with kids' for viewing, which could irritate parents or could be bad for children. With "Rated G for Netflix", children using iPad devices are no longer exposed to movie titles that are not rated G.

According to recent reports, Netflix has more than 25 million subscribers; and more children are using iPad for entertainment and education. In this scenario, "Rated G for Netflix" iPad app provides the peace of mind that parents need for when children browse Netflix and add films to their own queue. After a child safely browses through "Rated G for Netflix" and creates an independent queue, they can select a film which will then direct them to Netflix's main app for viewing the show.

Once the show is over, young children can go back to "Rated G for Netflix" and safely browse again and create their own queue.

"What's important about this new app is that it helps children to create their own independent queue", said Farzad Wafapoor, Directing Manager of AdvanTech Media, "this way, parents' queue is totally separate from children's queue, and kids will not bump into inappropriate movie titles when sifting through genres or the queue screen".

"Rated G for Netflix" is a co-development effort by Universal Apps (a Florida-based company) and AdvanTech Media operating from St. Louis, MO and Boston, MA. The next update will include a feature that parents can add or remove rated PG films from viewing options.

"Rated G for Netflix" is easy to use. Simply download, log in with Netflix credentials, and that's it.
