Reykjavik Calling Gives Seattle Fans A Taste Of Icelandic Music During Free Show At Neumos

SEATTLE, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Seattle music fans are in for much more than a "taste" of Iceland at Neumos on Friday, they can expect an earful. Reykjavik Calling, part of the A Taste of Iceland events in Seattle this week, is a free Icelandic music showcase presented by Iceland Naturally and KEXP 90.3 FM.

WHAT:  Sister Cities Seattle and Reykjavik have a lot more in common than one may think, particularly cultures rooted in a deep appreciation of music and creativity. Friday, October 12th Reykjavik Calling returns to Seattle for a third year of exciting performances by some of the best musicians and bands emerging from Seattle and Iceland.

Fans can once again expect a truly unique night of music, with a new twist. In an effort to explore new ways for these two distinct cultures to collaborate, each headlining band has been paired with a notable author to write lyrics for a song to debut at Reykjavik Calling. Apparat Organ Quartet is collaborating with Seattle author Ryan Boudinot and The Redwood Plan is collaborating with Reykjavik-born poet and novelist Sjon. The cross-cultural creative process between the authors and the bands will undoubtedly result in exciting never before heard performances.
