STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-Carrefour rises as France improves

Shares in Carrefour rise 5 percent after the French retailer posts aslight rise in third-quarter sales on an improvement in its core domesticbusiness.

"In France, the decline at hypermarkets like-for-like excluding fuel is lesspronounced than expected and less strong than in Q2 2012," CM-CIC analystChristian Devismes writes.

He adds: "In Latin America, the figures are highly satisfactory."

Aurel BGC analysts say the sales figures are positive and show the beginningof an improvement in French hypermarkets, which are key for its position in itshome market.

"After a positive surprise in the first half and another positive surprisein the third quarter, confidence could quietly return in the new management'sability to put things back on track," the Aurel BGC analysts write.
