Ticketmaster's Triple Threat: AEG, eBay, StubHub Partner-Up

For decades Live Nation owned Ticketmaster has dominated the ticket sales industry in sports, concerts and other live events - but now a threat could be waiting in the wings.

Beginning in the first quarter of 2013 eBay owned StubHub will become the exclusive secondary ticketing solution for AEG venues and AXS Ticketing launched by AEG in 2011.

StubHub will become the official secondary partner of LA's Staples Center, the 2012 Stanley Cup Champions the LA Kings (NHL) and the LA Galaxy (MLS).

In addition, StubHub will become the official fan-to-fan marketplace for more than 30 AEG venues worldwide.

As an official partner, ticket sellers on StubHub will be able to enter ticket bar codes on the website allowing the company to cancel them out and re-issue tickets to the buyers - eliminating the need for sellers to ship tickets. StubHub currently has a similar arrangement with Major League Baseball.

Ebay's online payment system PayPal will also become a new method of payment for AXS Ticketing completing this AEG-eBay partnership.

This is a multi-year partnership that promises to include more arrangements as time goes on.
