The professional social networking company LinkedIn is working to create a global "economic graph," the company CEO Jeff Weiner said on Monday at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference.
An economic map would include a profile for every company in the world, every higher educational organization, every worker in the world as well as every job opportunity around the globe.

All the value LinkedIn has created is based off users' professional graph, Weiner said. It helps users better leverage and tap their network, he said. But the company wants to grow that network significantly.
"Our longer term vision is much bigger than that, we want to develop the first economic graph," Weiner said. "We want to digitally represent every economic opportunity in the world."
