IBM to spend another $1 billion on Linux effort

IBM plans to spend $1 billion over four or five years on Linux and related open-source technologies, according to a report.

The amount equals a pledge IBM made in 2000 to support the technology, The Wall Street Journal reported.

IBM has long been one of the biggest backers of Linux,, which continues to dominate data centers, according to the Journal.
