Radware Joins HP's Partnership Program Furthering Its SDN Strategy

MAHWAH, N.J., Oct. 1, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Radware® (Nasdaq:RDWR), a leading provider of application delivery and application security solutions for virtual and cloud data centers, today announced that it has partnered with HP®, a recognized pioneer in software defined networking, (SDN) to help accelerate its product development in order to increase its presence in the SDN market.

Focusing on a wide spectrum of customers ranging from e-commerce, financial, large enterprise, online retail, government, utilities and service providers, Radware will offer two major applications – DefenseFlowTM and ElasticScale. Both of which are currently in production and beta testing, respectively.

DefenseFlow is an SDN application that enables network operators to program the network to provide DDoS protection as a native network service. It features an adaptive behavioral-based DoS attack detection engine and a traffic diversion mechanism that utilizes the programmable characteristics of the software defined network elements for attack cleansing.

Built as a native SDN application, DefenseFlow operates in any SDN enabled network infrastructure and allows provisioning of DDoS mitigation services per customer in seconds. As detection is done using OpenFlow network statistics, there is no need to deploy a layer of hardware detectors that consume router ports, minimizing operational costs.

DefenseFlow also diverts the traffic to the nearest mitigation device eliminating the need for purpose built scrubbing centers, further saving on costs.

Also part of the Radware SDN application framework, ElasticScale proactively optimizes network services by programming software defined networks. It is an SDN application that wraps existing network service virtual appliances and provides provisioning and traffic distribution logic to consistently deliver network services in an elastic demand environment.

ElasticScale is the only solution addressing all three aspects of network service scalability: virtual appliance provisioning, traffic distribution across virtual appliances and acceleration of virtual appliance I/O. It does not require customers to develop their own applications to new API's that have been provided in order to fulfill this functionality.

ElasticScale also allows carriers and service providers to offer application delivery (ADC), web performance optimization (WPO), web application firewalls (WAF) and Anti-DoS protections at a dynamic scale.

Service providers achieve an agile and scalable L4-7 service infrastructure and can optimize resource utilization in network service resources, rapidly respond to spikes in demand for certain network services and optimally distribute traffic between network service elements while changing resource allocation.
