LONDON, Oct. 1, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Willis Group Holdings (NYSE:WSH), the global risk adviser, insurance and reinsurance broker, has appointed David Shalders to the role of Group Operations & Technology Director, responsible for the company's information technology, operations, real estate and change management functions.
Shalders will serve as a member of the Willis Group Operating Committee and will work with business leaders across the company to develop efficient operational strategies and ensure that Willis has the systems in place to support continued growth.
Shalders joins Willis in November from the Royal Bank of Scotland Group where he served for over a decade in senior operations and IT roles, most recently as Global Chief Operating Officer for Global Banking and Markets. He also led the division's regulatory response to Basel 3. Prior to that, Shalders led the Group's integration with ABN Amro and held roles as Head of London and Asia Operations and Head of Derivative Operations for NatWest.
Shalders will succeed Interim Group Operations and Technology Director, Sally-Ann Hibberd, who retires from Willis in December to build a non-executive portfolio.
Commenting on Shalders' appointment, Dominic Casserley, Willis Group CEO, said: "I am delighted to welcome David to Willis. The expertise and depth of knowledge he brings in global operations and data management will be an enormous asset to our company as we serve our clients' needs through quality execution and innovation and deliver growth to our shareholders."
David Shalders said: "I am very excited about joining Willis and I look forward to working across the Group, using my experience to further strengthen Willis's operational capabilities."
Shalders holds a Masters degree in Geography from Cambridge University and a Masters degree in Computer Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
