VISTA, Calif., Oct. 8, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Omnitek Engineering Corporation (OTCQB:OMTK) today announced it has established a strategic alliance with Minneapolis, Minnesota-based diesel engine remanufacturer Reviva to produce a "drop-in" natural gas engine for the widely utilized Navister DT 466E and DT 530E heavy-duty truck engines, with plans to offer additional engine models. Omnitek expects to commence shipments of these remanufactured "drop-in" natural gas engines in the current quarter.
"This strategic alliance offers trucking fleets the option of ordering a completely remanufactured and ready to "drop-in" engine that incorporates Omnitek's EPA approved diesel-to-natural gas conversion kit. The assembly-line remanufacturing process offers the benefits of capacity, consistency and quality and a shortened conversion process. We look forward to working with Reviva in offering as-new natural gas converted engines to accelerate the transition of domestic heavy-duty fleets to natural gas," said Werner Funk, president and chief executive officer of Omnitek Engineering Corporation.
"During the past few years, the movement to cleaner burning fuels has led to increased demand for a natural gas drop-in engine. We have listened to our customers and are excited to offer another value-added solution. The alliance with Omnitek allows us to meet an expanding need with a solution that is tested, approved, sustainable and affordable. Considering Reviva's capacity, this program is available to even the largest fleets," said Duane Wanner, chief operating officer of Reviva.
Funk noted that Omnitek Engineering's expanding conversion center partnerships throughout the United States and Canada are uniquely positioned to work with fleets and analyze the most efficient conversion option -- utilizing a remanufactured "drop-in" natural gas engine replacement program or an engine conversion during the scheduled diesel engine overhaul. Omnitek Engineering expects to obtain EPA and CARB approval for additional diesel engine models to address the anticipated increasing demand from trucking fleets that operate with other diesel engine models.
Funk noted that Omnitek's conversion technology offers a projected payback on investment of less than two years – a significant advantage compared with a projected payback-period of five-to-seven years for a new natural gas truck purchase.
Founded in 1944, Reviva is one of the largest independent diesel engine remanufacturers in North America – serving the on-road, off-road and refrigeration markets. All of Reviva's complete drop-in engines are 100 percent dyno-tested and configured for quick installation. During the remanufacturing process, Reviva replaces all wear items -- including pistons, rings, rod and main bearings, pin bushings, gaskets and numerous other components with 100 percent new in every engine. Additional parts are remanufactured using precise, accurate processes to return them to OE specifications, utilizing only OEM or equivalent components. Reviva continues to grow and flourish by providing repeatable quality, on-time delivery and value-added solutions to original equipment manufacturers, fleets and the aftermarket.
