Art Cashin says today's gains, building on Thursday's stock rally sparked by apparent progress in ending the Washington stalemate, indicate the rally "could have further life."
Cashin, UBS' director of floor operations at the NYSE, told CNBC's Bob Pisani around midday that "no one's rushed out to get in front of the TV cameras to say anything."
He also expects that Congress' plan to recess next week will put pressure on lawmakers to reach a deal "so they can get back home."
Cashin's take: "Let's hope the politicians stay off the screen and we can carry this into the close."
