India Globalization Capital Commences Operations at First Inner Mongolian Plant

Bethesda, MD, Oct. 21, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- India Globalization Capital, Inc. (NYSE MKT:IGC), a company competing in the rapidly growing materials and infrastructure industry in India and China, announced that it has commenced iron ore beneficiation operations at the first of its three plants in Inner Mongolia. The plant is located on an estimated reserve of 2 million tons with production potential of between 4,000-7,500 tons of high-grade ore per month. The mine possesses a low-grade iron sand deposit that is processed initially through dry magnetic separators and then through wet magnetic separators to produce iron ore with 60%-65% Ferris content (high grade iron ore). The company has outsourced the mining and the dry separation functions to a local firm that specializes in mining, dry processing and logistics. IGC's subsidiary in China is responsible for the subsequent wet processing and the sale of high-grade iron ore on the spot market. The demand for iron ore continues to be strong with current local prices in the $110-$115 per ton range for high-grade ore.
