New York, Oct. 21, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Did you know that when a car is being built it is literally sculpted from clay? And that car designers are truly passionate artists - generally a team - who work on their creation until it is finally ready to be revealed to the world. That's what indie artist Autumn De Wilde discovered when she was brought in to shoot the 2015 Escalade luxury SUV. Falling in love with both the artists and their art she created a series of portraits of each.

The photographer's eye for emotion fit Cadillac's provocative design statement and was the perfect lens with which to capture the 2015 Cadillac Escalade from an artistic perspective. De Wilde designed a set of seven-foot-wide and 12-foot-tall, semi-opaque, sculptures modeled after the simple and traditional house form. Similar to how perception of the Escalade's design changes as light hits it, de Wilde's Plexiglas-and-mirror houses replicate the effect.
"I've always been obsessed with mirrors and colored Plexiglas and jewels and crystals and prisms. Ever since I was a little girl, I was fascinated with how they play in the light," De Wilde said. "I was totally fascinated by the design and the pieces of the headlamp. On their own, they were especially beautiful. In trying to do something a little different, I wanted to figure out how to exaggerate the feeling you would get when you go up to the sculptures in the car."
The portraits and the car were unveiled together at a unique gala event in New York City where Bob Boniface, Design Director at Cadillac talked about the unveiling of the car and Craig Bierley, Director of advertising talked about the direction of advertising for Cadillac in the future.
