USHCC Applauds Visionary College Scholarship Program

WASHINGTON, Oct. 28, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) applauds the LaMantia family, founders of L &F Distributors, for empowering a generation of students through their South Texas Academic Rising Scholars (STARS) Program.

USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez praised the LaMantia's during the closing gala of the 2013 USHCC National Convention, telling guests that the family "will always be remembered and cherished, not only for their success, but for unselfishly paying it forward." Today, L &F is one of the nation's top distributors, providing jobs to nearly 1,000 Americans. Palomarez emphasized that "despite their remarkable success, the family never lost sight of the importance of helping those less fortunate. Indeed, the LaMantias remind us that with leadership and success, comes responsibility. Many of us here tonight have enjoyed great acclaim and success, and have been rewarded in our respective fields." Palomarez concluded his remarks saying: "it's time for us to ask how we can give a voice to the voiceless, to help those who cannot help themselves. To explore how we too can pay it forward – it begins with us, it begins here, and it begins now."
