Midday movers: Boeing, J.M. Smucker, Lowe's & more

Take a look at some of Wednesday's midday movers:

Boeing - Shares of the plane manufacturer and Dow component fell after Oppenheimer downgraded its shares to perform from outperform.

J.M. Smucker - Shares of the maker of Folgers coffee and Jif peanut butter declined sharply after it reported softer-than-expected quarterly revenue.

J.C. Penney Co. - The retailer's shares rallied after it reported a steeper net loss but called November sales "encouraging" so far.

Lowe's Companies - The home-improvement retailer's shares declined after it reported less-than-expected quarterly earnings and offered a disappointing fiscal-year forecast.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals - The developer of small-molecule drugs rallied after it said it would sell its product royalty rights for a hepatitis C treatment for $152 million to a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.

Yahoo - Shares of the online-search engine rose after it increased its stock-repurchase program by $1 billion.
