SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 27, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GEAK, the company that produces wearable devices such as GEAK Watch and GEAK Ring, began accepting Bitcoin at the beginning of November. Till now, several customers had paid this way. According to the current rate of Bitcoin, you can purchase a GEAK Watch with 0.4 Bitcoin.

This is exciting news for those who have kept Bitcoin. As for GEAK, it becomes the first Chinese commercial corporation that makes Bitcoin deal happen.

GEAK's CEO, Gu Xiaobin, said that he noticed Bitcoin since the company founded in 2009, but using Bitcoin as a payment was not mature back then. Recently Bitcoin has become more popular and globalized in geeks and digital enthusiasts, GEAK decided to accept Bitcoin, for the convenience of foreign consumers.

Gu also mentioned, Bitcoin had not been popular in China. However, the company still decided to accept Bitcoin because it cares more about the geek spirit that Bitcoin represents rather the revenue Bitcoin might generate.

Gu is long term bullish on Bitcoin development, and feels optimistic in outlook. "This is one small step for GEAK, one giant leap for Bitcoin, " he said.

Bitcoin is an innovative payment network and a new kind of money. Currently a single Bitcoin is valued at 5249RMB(about $870) in China, and the rate of Bitcoin has rising fast recently.
