NEW YORK, Dec. 10, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kognitio, driving the convergence of Big Data, in-memory analytics and cloud computing, today announced its inclusion in Forrester Research's latest Forrester Wave™ for enterprise data warehouses (EDW), "The Forrester Wave: Enterprise Data Warehouses, Q4 2014." The analyst firm called Kognitio a "Strong Performer" in its newly-released evaluation of 11 vendors.

Forrester Research analysts Noel Yuhanna and Mike Gualtieri wrote in the report, "Kognitio's entirely in-memory, distributed EDW is appealing for customers looking for fast performance on commodity hardware." The analysts also gave Kognitio the highest score possible in the product roadmap category, and scored Kognitio a 4 out of a possible 5 in strategy.

The Kognitio Analytical Platform in-memory solution was described in the Forrester Wave as "innovative;" the Forrester analysts wrote that the platform "was designed from the start as an MPP (distributed) in-memory RDBMS, making extensive use of RAM-based processing for maximum performance. It supports data compression and can linearly add data capacity by adding nodes or appliances. Kognitio is typically scaled out by adding additional servers to the system, but Kognitio can also fully and automatically scale up by exploiting RAM, processor, or disk upgrades on each server."

Kognitio has worked to perfect its ability to scale out in-memory analytical implementations, an ability developed over a generation of continuous product improvement. Kognitio officials noted that the company's focus on True In-MemorySM computing enables companies to obtain greater insights in less time than from competing solutions. The ability of the Kognitio Analytical Platform, operating in a massively parallel processing (MPP) environment, has delivered proven results for companies worldwide, letting them do business more effectively and profitably. At the same time, Kognitio innovations such as the Kognitio Cloud™ have allowed a new breed of company to emerge, giving them the power to take advantage of analytics previously available only to large enterprises.

"We are honored by what we feel is Forrester Research's recognition of the strides we have made in this market," said Steve Millard, Kognitio president and chief executive officer. "As more companies become aware of the analytical possibilities available to them through in-memory computing, we have successfully grown our position by delivering a solution that meets their needs. True In-Memory gives us an advantage in helping our clients worldwide, and is at the heart of our growth. We continue that momentum, and expect it to deliver even greater results in the months ahead."
