It seems more and more of us are in need of a "tech hero"—that special tech-savvy someone who can help the rest of us keep up with the latest mobile technology. That's according to Alicia diVittorio, head of consumer security for the mobile security platform Lookout.com.

In October, Lookout, along with Harris Interactive, surveyed 2,033 adults about their concerns and comfort with using mobile technology.

"Seventy-five percent of those people would actually rely on their 'tech hero' to help them make a mobile purchasing decision," diVittorio said.

According to the survey, 63 percent of adults find it difficult to keep up with the latest mobile technology trends and 46 percent of people admit that getting comfortable with new technology takes them hours.

In addition, over 55 percent of the surveyed adults agreed that they would "love" to have a "tech hero" troubleshoot their mobile devices.

"Tech heroes" could potentially have an influence on $2.8 billion worth of smartphones shipped in Q4 of 2013, according to diVittorio. They can really help drive sales for businesses, she said.
