The snowstorm moving through the Midwest and taking aim at the Northeast this weekend shouldn't hurt holiday shopping too much, Martin Franklin, founder consumer products powerhouse Jarden, told CNBC on Thursday.

Many of the company's major brands such as Yankee Candle, Sunbeam, Mr. Coffee, and Crock-Pot are popular gift items.

In a "Squawk Box" interview, Franklin predicted a "pretty good" holiday shopping season. "If you're up 2 percent, something like that, I think that's a pretty healthy performance in-line with GDP or around there."

With the late start to the holiday shopping season and the rough winter weather that's hit many parts of the country already, "weather always has an impact," he acknowledged, but added: "At the end of the day, people who want to buy gifts are going to find a way one way or another to buy," perhaps forgoing malls in favor of shopping online.

The prospect of a cold, snowy weekend is heaven to Irwin Simon, chief executive of natural and organic foods company Hain Celestial.

"We love to see cold weather. It's amazing what happens to business when the weather gets cold," he gushed in a separate interview.

"So what happens when you hear about the snowstorm coming this weekend?" Simon asked. "You run to the store and stock up … and stay home and watch TV and eat snacks."
