DETROIT, Dec. 20, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR), the technology performance company delivering a new generation of APM, today announced that Gartner, Inc. has positioned Compuware in the "Leaders" quadrant of the "Magic Quadrant for Application Performance Monitoring (APM)" reporti for the fourth consecutive year. Compuware is the only vendor who has consistently been in the "Leaders" quadrant since the report first published in 2010. Additionally, Compuware is once again positioned the furthest for 'completeness of vision' in the APM Magic Quadrant for the third consecutive year.
Compuware's APM business is at the forefront of innovation and continues to grow and gain market share at a rapid pace, while bolstering its already significant competitive foothold in the APM market.
According to Gartner, the demand for availability and performance monitoring tools is pushing rapid market growth and innovationii. Additionally, Gartner says the demand and importance placed on APM tools has increased significantly during the past several years. This will continue as applications and infrastructures become more complex, dynamic and additional layers of abstraction are introduced (for example, virtualization, SDN, and API abstraction)iii.
By year-end 2013, Gartner estimates that the global spend for APM software licenses and first-year service contracts will grow to approximately $2.12 billion, which represents a 5.4% growth over the $2.01 billion spent in 2012. This 5.4% growth rate represents a deceleration from the 5.8% growth rate experienced between 2011 and 2012.i
"We are honored that Gartner has once again positioned Compuware the furthest for 'completeness of vision' for the third consecutive year, and to be the only firm cited as a leader in every APM Magic Quadrant they have published since 2010," said John Van Siclen, General Manager of Compuware's APM business unit. "With several large vendors losing placement in the leader's quadrant this year, it's confirmed, older "traditional" APM tools can no longer fully address today's modern business and technology requirements. A new generation APM approach is what the market is looking for, and we lead in this regard."
Over the past six months alone, Compuware announced a series of industry firsts that have dramatically changed the way APM resolves problems and drives business results:
- PureStack Technology™ redefines the boundaries of APM by finally exposing how IT infrastructure conditions impede performance of critical business applications. Combined with Compuware's patented dynaTrace PurePath Technology™, PureStack directly correlates guest and host infrastructure health to individual application transactions and affected end users in real-time. This is the first APM solution to enable application operators to quickly gauge the impact of infrastructure problems in the context of user experience and business performance.
- Compuware's APMaaS Platform now includes dynaTrace Real User Monitoring, delivering the industry's most powerful User Experience Management solution. This innovation provides a complete UEM offering, including real-user, synthetic, third-party service monitoring and business impact analysis all as an on-demand solution.
- Raising the bar on Application-Aware Network Performance Monitoring with unmatched analytics for Citrix, Oracle, SAP and Web applications to deliver unprecedented insight and speed troubleshooting.Compuware empowers IT operations teams to immediately isolate faults that impact application performance and end-user experience across web, middleware, database and network tiers – including unique insight into proprietary "packaged" application environments.
- Compuware APM Mobile Application Monitoring Free Edition is the first and only mobile performance management solution for native mobile applications that combines performance, crash and usage analytics in a unified platform toenable mobile development, testing and production teams to optimize, troubleshoot and manage business-critical native mobile apps with ease.
To be recognized as a market leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant – in addition to innovation and execution – Compuware met or exceeded a wide range of Gartner benchmarks, including competitive offerings related to Gartner's five dimensions of APMi.
