Electronics beat out apparel this holiday season, but one analyst said some retailers did do better than others.
SunTrust analyst Pamela Quintiliano told CNBC's "Squawk Box" that sellers of women's clothing were generally the winners "because they didn't have 'must have' apparel last year," so buyers were in a "replenishment cycle" this year.
She singled out Ann Taylor as a winner because it had the "right product for its customer" and planned promotions "resonated" with buyers.
