SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DSP Group®, Inc. (Nasdaq:DSPG), a leading global provider of wireless chipset solutions for converged communications, and Everspring, a global company that provides home security and home automation products, announced today the launch of five new smart home sensors based on state-of-the-art ULE technology. The sensors will include security detectors such as motion detectors and smoke detectors, home automation sensors such as smart plugs, and more.
The new Everspring sensors include DSP Group's DHX91 SoC solution, which provides support for digital baseband controller ULE functionalities. DHX91 utilizes an ARM processor operating at ultra-low power, and features an RF transceiver, together with audio and video capabilities.
ULE technology, the next generation of home automation and monitoring standards, offers the advantages of superior range, video and audio support, long battery life, and DIY installation. ULE products also benefit from a dedicated frequency band, which enables interference-free operation.
The Everspring sensors leverage ULE's extended range and simple star topology to eliminate the need for repeaters, which are necessary with competing technologies. With ULE, hundreds of devices - including motion sensors, window contacts, smoke and flood detectors, thermostats and more - can be seamlessly connected to one gateway, enabling true remote home automation and monitoring services.
"We chose ULE for our smart sensors due to ULE's interference-free frequency bands, long secured range and RF robustness. We are also confident that with these new features of ULE technology, our future devices will cater to the needs of users and be ideally suited to the smart home market," said Jefferson Huang, the General Manager at Everspring. "DSP Group's DHX91 is a perfect fit for our smart sensors, offering the right combination of cost, performance, low power and ease of integration," he concluded.
"We are excited to cooperate with Everspring, a market leader for anti-theft and security control products, following their choice of DHX91 for their sensors," said Yosi Brosh, VP sales and marketing South East Asia at DSP Group. "Our SoC features a high level of integration, superior range and low power consumption – making it the ideal solution for Everspring's advanced smart home devices," he continued.
The new sensors will be shown in DSP Group's private suite during CES 2014.
