NEW YORK, Jan. 8, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tauriga Sciences, Inc. (OTCQB:TAUG) or ("Tauriga" or "the Company"), a diversified company focused on generating profitable revenues through license agreements and the development of a proprietary technology platform in the nanorobotics space, today announced that it is pursuing several potential sources of non-dilutive funding to assist in completing the acquisition of Pilus Energy LLC ("Pilus Energy"). The Company is focused on several significant opportunities to secure funding from sources that do not require the issuance of equity, such as: grants, low interest loans, and up front exclusive license payments. By obtaining these potential sources of non-dilutive funding, the Company's capital raise requirements could be significantly reduced in addition to any future corresponding dilution.

The Company will inform shareholders, via a press release, when and if it secures a substantial tranche of non-dilutive funding.

Tauriga's CEO Seth M. Shaw, expressed, "In entering into the definitive agreement with Pilus Energy on November 25, 2013, the Company was intrigued by some of the opportunities (already in progress) for securing non-dilutive funding. Management continues to work diligently towards securing such sources of funding and there has been some important progress achieved to that end. It is important for our shareholders to know these opportunities exist and the closing of the proposed transaction with Pilus may not depend solely on private placement financing."

According to Jason E. Barkeloo, the Bacterial Robotics CEO, "Over the last couple of months, and inclusive of the holiday season, I was impressed by Tauriga's pursuit of closing the Pilus Energy transaction. Therefore, I am proposing an amendment to the definitive acquisition agreement that reduces the amount of capital Tauriga is required to raise for closing the Pilus Energy transaction. This proposed amendment is meaningful support to Tauriga's strategic efforts at achieving non-dilutive funding."

On November 25, 2013, the Company signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cincinnati, Ohio based Pilus Energy LLC ("Pilus Energy"), a developer of alternative cleantech energy platforms using proprietary microbial solutions that creates electricity while consuming polluting molecules from wastewater. Upon consummation of the proposed reverse merger, which has been unanimously ratified by Tauriga's board of directors, Pilus Energy will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tauriga.
