China's Lenovo Group had the dubious honor of shipping the most personal computers in 2013, a year that is officially the worst in the industry's history.
Lenovo shipped 53.3 million PC last year, edging out its nearest competitor Hewlett-Packard, which shipped 51.3 million, according to data from market research firm Gartner. The shipments included desk-based PCs and mobile PCs, including mini-notebooks, but not tablets such as Apple's iPad.
Lenovo's global market share in the fourth quarter was roughly 18 percent compared to Hewlett-Packard's 16 percent. Dell came in third, with a 12 percent market share.
