TORONTO, Jan. 14, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CFA Society Toronto's Board of Directors pay tribute to 575 local recipients of the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Many new 2013 charterholders will attend the Charter Recognition event in Toronto on January 16, 2013 to celebrate this milestone.
"The commitment required in order to earn your charter is indicative of each candidate's dedication toward ethics, integrity and the betterment of the financial industry. The hours invested in the study of the CFA Program curriculum alongside the required financial industry experience pair for a valuable and broad body of knowledge that charterholders can boast." said, Anish Chopra, CFA, Managing Director and Portfolio Manager, TD Asset Management Inc., CFA Society Toronto Board of Director and Membership Chair.
To earn the CFA charter, candidates must sequentially pass three six-hour exams that are widely considered to be the most rigorous in the investment profession. 49% of candidates successfully completed the Level III exam in June 2013. The CFA curriculum includes ethical and professional standards; financial reporting and analysis; corporate finance; economics; quantitative methods; equity, fixed income, alternative investments; derivatives; portfolio management; and wealth planning. CFA Institute has administered well over one million exams since the inauguration of the CFA program in 1963.
This past June 1,286 candidates sat for the Level III exam in the Toronto test centre. The 2013 exams were given at 268 test centers in 196 cities, across 91 countries worldwide. 10,025 sat for the CFA exam in Canada in 2013.
Limited media passes available upon request. Reception begins at 2:00PM - Please RSVP by Wed Jan 15.
