WASHINGTON, Jan. 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- President & CEO Javier Palomarez:

"Today the United States faces both tremendous challenges and extraordinary opportunities. The President was right to highlight options and showcase ideas that are meant to get Americans back to work and the economy growing again. The USHCC applauds the President's commitment to strengthen the middle class, incentivize foreign and local investment, and bring jobs back to America.

We particularly call on the Administration to honor tonight's pledge to make more loans available to small business owners. The Hispanic business community has a start up rate three times the national average, and will greatly benefit from increased access to capital, that enables them to grow their firms and create jobs in the communities that need it most.

The USHCC looks forward to our continued work with the President and Congress in creating an immigration system that continues attracting the world's best talent, strengthening our education system and retooling our labor force for the 21st century. A comprehensive immigration reform bill must find its way to the President's desk. A bill that seizes the economic opportunities of a better workforce, pays down our national debt, and encourages entrepreneurialism across the United States.

While we all too often are told about our nation's differences, tonight we are reminded of America's broad support for a more prosperous future."

Chairman of the Board Marc Rodriguez:

"In his 2014 State of the Union address, President Obama reminded us how large of a stake the Hispanic business community has in the year ahead: in order to keep the momentum as the fastest growing segment of American enterprise, Hispanic entrepreneurs require Congress and the Administration to build on mutual interests that promote economic prosperity.

The USHCC supports the President's call to strengthen international trade partnerships that empower our businesses to export their products and be global champions of American enterprise.

The USHCC also applauds the President's call to lower tax rates for businesses and simplify our complicated and outdated tax code. We commend any effort that attracts investment, fosters entrepreneurship and brings well-paying jobs back home.

We have always sustained that America is the best place in the world to invest in, and support initiatives that facilitate this effort."
