Indonesia posted a bigger-than-expected trade surplus of $1.52 billion in December, government data showed on Monday, putting the trade balance in the black for a third straight month and relieving pressure on the ailing rupiah.

The result compared with the median forecast for a $550 million surplus in a Reuters poll of analysts and followed a $780 million surplus in November.
